first_imgIn a 7 p.m. recital prior to the concert, four first and second place winners in the Bach Competition will perform. They include Laurann Estevez, 12, Littlerock; Sofia Kim, 13, Granada Hills; Laura Evans, 12, Corona; and Evan Lih, 11, Chatsworth. First-place division winners Estevez and Kim received $200 scholarships. Second-place division winners Evans and Lih received $100 scholarships. To post your own stories and photos, log on to Young winners of the annual Bach Competition and Gail Newby Concerto Competition sponsored by the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale will perform 8 p.m. March 24 at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center, 750 W. Lancaster Blvd., Lancaster. As the first-place winner of the Gail Newby Concert Competition, 17-year-old Katherine Harris of Azusa will perform Lizst’s Piano Concerto No. 1 as part of the Antelope Valley Symphony Orchestra’s concert. Harris will share the program with second place winner Krystina Tran, a 15-year-old pianist from Palmdale, who will perform Beethoven’s Concerto No. 3, Movement 1. Harris and Tran received scholarships for $400 and $200, respectively, for their accomplishments.
