Provincial Conference Targets 4H Youth and Agricultural Leaders

first_imgCommunity agricultural leaders and 4-H members from across the province will look at ways to develop leadership, life and business skills at a conference hosted by the 4-H and the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Feb. 4-5, at the Agri-Tech Park in Bible Hill. “For decades the 4-H organization and department have been teaching life skills to rural community leaders,” said Chris d’Entremont, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. “The positive response to these conferences indicate the delegates’ eagerness to learn more about both agriculture and business.” Seventy-two participants between the ages of 13 and 15 have registered for the conference which is called, The Places You’ll Go. The 4-H members will attend sessions on setting and reaching goals, building self-esteem and planning for agricultural or business careers. “Our 4-H and rural organizations section is pleased to be offering two exciting training opportunities for 4-H youth and rural leaders at the conference,” said Liz Crouse, section manager at the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, “The participants will learn new skills, hear positive messages about agriculture and exchange ideas with one another.”last_img
