His first major achievement was winning the NFL, now known as I League, with JCT Mills back in 1995. Since then he has played for multiple teams including Mohun Bagan and East Bengal. He even had a short stint with English side Bury FC. With the national side Bhaichung would end up winning the SAFF Championships thrice, and also the AFC Challenge Cup in 2008, which enabled India to compete for the AFC Asian Cup for the first time since 1984.
