first_imgRohit Sharma said 30 minutes of poor cricket has snatched the chances of India lifting their 3rd World Cup title in England. The India vice-captain took to social media to post a heartfelt message after the team lost to New Zealand in the semi-final in Manchester on Thursday.Rohit Sharma suffered a rare failure on the reserve day of the rain-affected final at Old Traffrord when India were chasing 240 against the Black Caps. Rohit was caught behind as early as the 2nd over following which India lost KL Rahul and Virat Kohli cheaply.India were reeling at 5 for 3 but a valiant effort from Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni took them closer to the target. The 116-run stand for the 7th wicket between Dhoni and Jadeja wasn’t enough after the top-order wobble as New Zealand clinched an 18-run win and progressed to the their 2nd successive World Cup final.Rohit Sharma’s reactions from the dressing room during the semi-final went viral on social media as the India vice-captain was gutted after losing his wicket early. The opener played with a lot of determination and unprecedented consistency as he amassed 648 runs in 9 matches. Rohit became the first player in the history of the sport to hit 5 hundreds in a single edition of the World Cup.Speaking to India Today, batting great Sachin Tendulkar pointed out that Rohit would be “feeling terrible” after the semi-final defeat and that he would need some time to put the disappointment behind and focus on his future.”He [Rohit Sharma] must be feeling terrible and so bad about the way we have ended this WC. It’s something which he will take quite some time to overcome because this is a huge disappointment. I feel bad for him,” Sachin Tendulkar told India Today.”It is a tough time for everyone, we have expectations and dreams. All I can say is its been a tough day.
