FRISCO, Texas – Central Arkansas’ Gracie Hyde and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Sashane Hanson are the Southland Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. Southland Athletes of the Week are presented by MidSouth Bank.Hyde competed over the weekend for Central Arkansas at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, running in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event. The freshman nabbed the Southland’s best time in the event running a 10:51.76 clip.Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Hanson competed in the high jump event for the Islanders also at the Texas Relays. The senior tied a NCAA best with a 6-0.75 leap for first-place honors.Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week – Gracie Hyde, Central Arkansas – Fr. – Benton, Ark.Hyde ran the fastest steeplechase time in the Southland Conference this season at the prestigious Texas Relays. Austin; Annina Brandenburg, Abilene Christian.Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week – Sashane Hanson, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi – Sr. – Montego Bay, Jamaica Hanson’s spectacular season continued at the ultra-competitive Texas Relays, as the senior posted a first-place finish in the high jump event. Hanson set a school record with a leap of 1.85m (6-0.75). Currently, that mark sits in a tie for a NCAA high this year in outdoor competition and best in the Southland Conference by .12m.Honorable Mention: Jasmyn Steels, Northwestern State; Sarea Alexander, Incarnate Word; Madison Pecot, Stephen F.
